Five lovely angels dressed in the prettiest floral dresses, floating on lacy wings…
This combination of embroidery, applique, snippets of antique lace, patchwork, and English Paper Piecing, will evolve as you collect and complete its many elements. Personalizing the angels is so much fun, from their dresses, to their wings, hair styles, and everything they wear and hold! This will truly be your own unique creation! Take your time and have fun with it!
Joyful Tidings Supply List
Fabric… use as many prints as possible. Nothing less than 13 or 14. Now is a good time to use up scraps in your stash! The scrappier the better!
I used approximately ½ yard total for English Paper Pieced Hexi Flowers, Large Rings, and Star Halves using pink, cream, and taupe prints.
Lace for wings and dress embellishments If you were using one lace fabric you’d need about ¿ yard total
I used approximately ¼ yard total of prints for dresses and sleeves
1 ½ yards total light prints for piecing blocks
1 yard total medium/dark prints for piecing blocks
¼ yd white with pink dots for bordering Four Patch blocks
1 ½ yards Oatmeal Colored Linen for Angel backgrounds
½ yard white muslin for appliques of hands, faces, feet, ribbons, bunting, skates. More than enough!
¿ yard pink dot for Angel block borders
4 yards quilt backing (72” square)
Batting 72” square
Binding ¿ yard
Wash Away Stitch Stabilizer
Fabric glue stick
Freezer paper for templates
Heat Erasable Frixion pen
01 brown or black pigma pen
#7 embroidery needle
#3 milliner’s needle
